Wife Beater

I have always thought it was interesting that a white tank-top has become known by so many as a "wife beater".  I once heard a middle aged mother of 3 walk into a department store and ask for assistance finding "wife beaters", overall it just rings strange to me so I came up with an idea. This is in no way meant to offend, merely a take on something I find weird.
